Aerial surveying (often referred to as Photogrammetry or Aerial Mapping) has been in the market for years but advancements in technology and ease of data collection have ensured that it remains at the forefront of survey methods. Once the data is captured it can be further processed to create high resolution orthographic images, digital elevation models and pointclouds giving clients additional deliverable options.

Aerial surveying is able to efficiently capture both large and small areas in precision detail, enabling for effective planning and modelling. Service deliverables include digital terrain models (DTM), 3D point clouds and vector data extraction.
Digital terrain models (DTM) / digital elevation models (DEM) are a representation of ground surface topography or terrain and are produced from data captured by our photogrammetrists. Differing levels of accuracy are able to be produced depending on the clients’ requirements and budget.
CAD data can be processed from our aerial imagery such as kerbing, roads, fences and roof lines. For small areas up to 25km² we can configure the data capture to produce the equivalent of a ground-based detail survey, or for areas over 25km² we generally work to a sub 100mm tolerance in data accuracy.
Our Photogrammetry and Laser Scanning divisions can develop high quality 3D point clouds. Typically those captured by photogrammetry are perfectly suited for major projects where a large area has to be covered in high density and with efficiency and accuracy. Photogrammetry data can contain some noise, however it retains full colour definition and is able to be further processed into photo-realistic textural meshes, enabling for easier comprehension.
Orthorectified imagery (or orthophotos) have been processed to remove lens distortion, camera tilt and differences in elevation (topographic relief). They offer the same benefits as a map but with uniform scale and true geometry, allowing for the accurate measurement of features.
High accuracy close range terrestrial imaging allows for very fine detail to be captured for documentation, analysis and measurement. Examples include capturing and extracting high level detail of complex facades, mosaic features or surface finishes (including damage such as chipping or hairline cracks can be documented)
